Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) has awarded the tender for a detailed geo-technical survey of the Lucknow Metro’s East-West Corridor (Charbagh to Vasant Kunj) to Arun Soil Lab Pvt. Ltd. The survey, including the Hardoi Road Depot, is valued at Rs. 58.76 lakh and is expected to be completed within three months.

The contract (Tender No. LKGS-01) is valued at Rs. 58,76,819/- and has a completion timeline of three months. The survey is a crucial step in the execution of Lucknow Metro Rail Project Phase 1B, aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing congestion in the city.
In July 2024, the Network Planning Group (NPG) approved the East-West Corridor of the Lucknow Metro, marking a milestone in the city’s transport infrastructure expansion.

- The East-West Corridor will extend the Lucknow Metro by 11.165 km, catering to the growing transportation needs of the city.
- The existing metro line serves 80,000 passengers daily (PPD), and this new corridor is expected to accommodate an additional 200,000 PPD.
- The corridor will enhance connectivity across key commercial zones, including Aminabad, Alambagh, Faizabad, and Charbagh, easing travel for daily commuters.
- Strategic station placements will ensure seamless interconnectivity through foot over bridges (FoBs) and underpasses for better accessibility.
- With an estimated project cost of INR 5,801 crores, the corridor aims to reduce congestion, vehicular pollution, and promote an integrated public transport system.
- The project also focuses on sustainability, incorporating rooftop solar panels to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources.
