Namo Bharat Trains ensure passenger comfort with AC coaches and energy-efficient selective door opening

Namo Bharat trains are redefining commuter comfort by integrating high-quality air-conditioning systems and selective door opening technology. Designed to withstand peak summer heat, these features not only ensure a cool and comfortable ride but also save energy. The Delhi-Meerut corridor highlights a cleaner, smarter mode of regional travel.

Introduction:

With temperatures soaring across North India, Namo Bharat trains have emerged as a savior for passengers seeking comfort and convenience. The semi-high-speed train service between Delhi and Meerut is setting new standards by integrating modern air-conditioning systems with advanced energy-saving features.

Selective Door Opening:

One of the extraordinary innovations is the introduction of selective door opening. Unlike traditional trains where all doors open at every stop, Namo Bharat trains operate in a passenger-controlled mode. Passengers press a button to open the doors as needed. This smart solution allows minimal loss of cool air and accelerates energy efficiency.

This feature is being used for the first time in India and is a key step forward in sustainable urban transportation. It helps maintain the internal temperature of coaches while minimising the load on the HVAC system.

Advanced Air-Conditioning Designed for Indian Summers:

Each coach is equipped with two high-performance HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) units, ensuring a consistent cabin temperature of around 25°C. These systems are designed to adapt to India’s extreme weather conditions—be it summer, winter, or monsoon.

Key highlights:

  • Dual HVAC units per coach
  • Seasonal temperature adjustments
  • Cool, dust-free interiors compared to road travel
  • energy consumption through selective door control
  • This system proves especially beneficial for women, senior citizens, students, and office-goers who often face harsh commuting conditions by road.

Clean, Comfortable Stations and Amenities:

To complement the cool coaches, station infrastructure has also been designed with commuter comfort in mind-

  • Open, airy platforms promote natural ventilation
  • Premium lounges feature large fans for added cooling
  • Free purified drinking water is available for all passengers
  • Routine AC maintenance and regular filter cleaning ensure uninterrupted comfort

Together, these features provide a seamless and pleasant transit experience—onboard and at the station.

Corridor Coverage and Future Plans:

Currently, Namo Bharat trains operate on a 55-km section from New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) to Meerut South, covering 11 stations-

  • New Ashok Nagar
  • Anand Vihar (underground)
  • Sahibabad
  • Ghaziabad
  • Guldhar
  • Duhai
  • Duhai Depot
  • Muradnagar
  • Modi Nagar South
  • Modi Nagar North
  • Meerut South

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is working diligently to complete the full Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor by the end of this year, ensuring faster, safer, and more comfortable transit for millions.

Conclusion:

With innovative features like selective door opening and advanced HVAC systems, Namo Bharat is transforming regional rail travel in India. Offering relief from heat, dust, and energy wastage, it stands as a model of smart, commuter-centric transportation. As the corridor expands, even more travelers will benefit from its top-class amenities.
