Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has awarded a significant contract worth INR 436.73 crore to D.P. Jain & Co. Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. for the construction of a new 57.4 km railway line between Mangliyagaon and Kheri in Madhya Pradesh. The project aims to enhance passenger and freight connectivity, reducing travel distance and fostering development.
Scope of Work:
- Construction of roadbeds, minor bridges, and station buildings.
- Installation of tracks, excluding the supply of rails, sleepers, and thick web switches.
- Passenger amenities, platform works, and general electrical installations.
- Execution over a 57.4 km stretch, excluding a tunnel (Ch. 33.160-34.400) and viaduct (Ch. 2.705-5.110).
- Site facility provisions, cement, and reinforcement supply.
Salient Project Features:
- Alignment & Geography: Traverses plain and hilly terrains, avoiding eco-sensitive zones and wildlife sanctuaries.
- Engineering Highlights: 61 major bridges, 78 minor bridges, 2 tunnels (total length 9.88 km), and 2 viaducts (total length 9.23 km).
- Stations: Six planned stations, including Mangliyagaon, Panod, and Kheri.
- Specifications: Electrification-ready single-line alignment with a 1 in 200 compensated gradient and 25T-2008 loading.
Significance:
The Indore-Budni line will reduce the Indore-Jabalpur travel distance by 74.22 km, improving regional connectivity for both passengers and freight. This strategic project, part of Indian Railways’ first phase development, is expected to generate employment and boost economic activities in the region.
