Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala has achieved its highest-ever annual production by manufacturing 2,102 coaches in FY 2024-25—an 11% rise over last year. Vande Metro, Amrit Bharat, and upcoming SPART & SPIC coaches are the innovations that strengthen RCF’s position as a key player in India’s rolling stock evolution.
RCF’s Record Coach Production:
In a significant step, Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala has surpassed its previous records by producing 2,102 coaches in the financial year 2024-25, marking an 11% increase over the 1,901 coaches manufactured in 2023-24. This milestone highlights RCF’s continued growth and operational excellence in the Indian railway sector.
Surge in LHB Coach Manufacturing:
RCF also achieved a 22% rise in LHB coach production, manufacturing 1,926 LHB coaches, the highest-ever annual figure. With this, the factory’s cumulative coach production has crossed 46,000 units, strengthening its role in modernizing India’s passenger transport infrastructure.
Innovation and New Rolling Stock:
In FY 2024-25, RCF gained national recognition with the development of new products:
- Vande Metro rakes – Designed for intercity mobility and metro systems in large cities.
- Five rakes for Kashmir Valley – Built for extreme weather conditions with heating systems.
- First rake of Amrit Bharat coaches – Featuring upgraded sleeper, pantry, and unreserved coaches in push-pull configuration.
RCF has finalized designs for:
- High-Speed SPART (Self Propelled Accident Relief Train)
- High-Speed SPIC (Self Propelled Inspection Car)
These are scheduled for production in FY 2025-26. Additionally, RCF will manufacture LHB coaches for Bangladesh Railways, expanding its international footprint.
Statement:
General Manager of RCF, Shri S.S. Mishra congratulated all the employees and said that in order to phase out the old ICF type coaches, RCF has been given a target of manufacturing 3000 coaches by the Railway Board in the year 2025-26. He expressed confidence that with its technical skills and strong determination, RCF will definitely be able to achieve its target within the stipulated time.
