PM Modi inaugurates key railway projects across Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana, and Odisha

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Jammu Railway Division and Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana while laying the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building. These initiatives aim to modernize infrastructure, enhance passenger amenities, expand connectivity, and generate employment, promoting socio-economic growth across Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana, and Odisha.


Details of the Projects:

Jammu Railway Division:

The creation of the Jammu Railway Division, spanning 742.1 kilometers, encompasses key routes including:

  • Pathankot–Jammu–Udhampur (now Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan)–Srinagar–Baramula (423 RKM),
  • Bhogpur Sirwal–Pathankot (87.21 RKM),
  • Batala (excluding)–Pathankot (68.17 RKM), and
  • Pathankot–Joginder Nagar (narrow gauge section) (163.72 RKM).

This initiative addresses the long-standing aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing improved connectivity to other parts of India. The new division is set to enhance regional tourism, generate employment, boost infrastructure, and catalyze socio-economic growth in the region.

Charlapalli New Terminal Station:

Located in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district, the Charlapalli Terminal has been developed at a cost of Rs. 413 crore. It features modern amenities, a second entry, and eco-friendly infrastructure. The terminal will ease congestion at existing stations like Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda, enhancing travel convenience for passengers.

Rayagada Railway Division Building:

The foundation stone for the Rayagada Division Building under the East Coast Railway will strengthen rail connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and surrounding regions. This development is set to support industries, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth.

PM Stated:

“The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasized that development of the Indian Railways is being advanced on four key parameters. First, the modernisation of railway infrastructure; second, the provision of modern facilities for passengers; third, the expansion of railway connectivity to every corner of the country; and fourth, the creation of employment opportunities and support for industries through railways.”
