Patna Metro has observed “World Environment Day-2024” with awareness and commitment towards the environment. On this auspicious occasion, a pledge for environmental protection was taken by all the workers and employees to protect the environment and work in a sustainable manner.

World Environment Day was observed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at all sites PC-01, PC-02, PC-03, PC-04 and PE-01 of Patna Metro Rail Project. Various environmental awareness programs were organised to show commitment towards environmental awareness. The environmental team of DMRC sensitised all employees and workers about land restoration, desertification and drought prevention under the slogan “Our Land Our Future” the theme of “World Environment Day” of 2024.
Pledge for Environment Protection:
- On this occasion, a pledge for environmental protection was taken by all the workers and employees to protect the environment.
- Training and awareness programs on the environment were conducted at all sites to increase the awareness level among workers.
- Apart from poster making competition, quiz competition, housekeeping drive, road marching, about one thousand trees and saplings were distributed among the local people and tree plantation programs were organised under which thousands of saplings were planted.
- Trees and saplings were also distributed to pedestrians passing by and local residents so that they could also plant trees in their homes.
According to UNCCD:
- It is to be noted that according to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), up to 40 percent of the Earth’s land has been degraded, which is directly impacting half of the world’s population and reducing the global gross domestic product (US$44 trillion). Dollar) is at risk.
- The number and duration of droughts has increased by 29 percent since 2000 – if urgent action is not taken, more than three-quarters of the world’s population could be affected by drought by 2050.
Conclusion:
The efforts of Patna Metro towards environmental awareness are in line with the overall vision of Indian Railways to set new benchmarks in terms of environmental sustainability and become a medium for environmental awareness for the general public.
