National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the executing agency for India’s pioneering bullet train project, has achieved another significant milestone by successfully launching a 45-metre-long SBS Span over the Petlad Irrigation Canal as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor. This achievement underscores the continuous progress being made in constructing the nation’s first high-speed rail network, bringing India closer to realising this transformative infrastructure project.

Brief about Canal:
- Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project crossed over Petlad Canal (irrigation canal of Mahisagar river), Kheda district between Anand and Ahmedabad Bullet Train station.
- Width of the canal: 40 metres.
- In order to avoid obstruction in the water flow of the canal, a 45 m long span consisting of 19 segments was joined to complete the launching over the canal.
- This 46 km long canal is passing through 193 villages.

A Knowledge Sharing Workshop on ‘Advanced Steel Bridge Fabrication’ was recently held in Bhuj, Gujarat, organised by NHSRCL in collaboration with North Western Railway and West Central Railway.
