NCRTC installs EV charging stations at Guldhar and Duhai Namo Bharat stations to promote eco-friendly transportation

NCRTC has installed world-class fast EV charging stations at Guldhar and Duhai Namo Bharat stations. With this development, Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor now has three stations that are equipped with EV charging facilities. This initiative supports India’s goal of having green transport and it improves last-mile connectivity in the region.


Introduction:

In a significant step towards greener and more sustainable transport solutions, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has successfully installed modern fast Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at Guldhar and Duhai Namo Bharat stations. This achievement marks a major milestone in NCRTC’s ongoing commitment to environmentally friendly infrastructure.

These state-of-the-art EV charging stations, now operational, bring the total number of EV charging facilities on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor to three, with Sahibabad station already offering the service. The step is posed to enhance last-mile connectivity for Namo Bharat commuters and promote the adoption of electric vehicles in surrounding urban areas.

Technical Highlights of the Charging Stations:

Each newly commissioned station is equipped with high-voltage 50 kW fast-charging units. These chargers can power a four-wheeler up to 80% in approximately 30 minutes—majorly reducing wait times for users. The setup at Guldhar station allows for one vehicle to be charged at a time, while the Duhai station is designed to handle two vehicles at the same time.

The charging points are built with flexibility in mind, supporting multiple EV types to cater to the diverse needs of commuters and local residents.

Digital Access via ElectreeFi App:

The EV charging service is integrated with the “ElectreeFi” mobile application, which is available on both Android and iOS platforms. Users can simply register, book their charging slot, and monitor the charging status in real-time through the app. The system also supports secure online payments, offering a user-friendly and contactless experience.

This digital integration allows the users complete control and visibility over their charging needs and scheduling.

A Step Towards Sustainable Mobility:

This initiative aligns with NCRTC’s broader goal of achieving sustainable development through renewable energy and eco-friendly transport. In addition to benefiting daily commuters, the new infrastructure encourages a shift toward electric vehicles among local residents by making charging more accessible and convenient.

As part of its sustainability roadmap, NCRTC has announced its goal to meet 70% of the total energy demand for the RRTS corridor via solar power. Solar plants are being installed at elevated stations and depots, with a target of generating around 11 MW of renewable energy—further supporting India’s clean energy transition.

Future Expansion Plans:

NCRTC is also exploring opportunities to expand EV charging infrastructure to other Namo Bharat stations. By doing so, it aims to establish a comprehensive green mobility network that will serve as a benchmark for other urban transit systems in the country.
