Celebrating One Year of Namo Bharat Success:
In a landmark celebration, Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, marked the one-year anniversary of the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). Boarding the train at Sahibabad station, the Minister experienced the ride firsthand, recognizing the significant milestone of serving over 4 million passengers on this revolutionary transit system.
Interaction with Train Operators and Passengers:
Shri Manohar Lal’s journey included engaging with the women train operators who have played a vital role in the operations. He also interacted with passengers onboard, gathering feedback on their experiences. Passengers praised the convenience, speed, and comfort of Namo Bharat trains, which have drastically improved their daily commutes.
Festive Celebrations and Public Engagement:
To celebrate the anniversary, NCRTC hosted schoolchildren for a special ride in the morning. The stations were decorated, with commuters greeted by festive music, chocolates, and mementos, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration.
Highlighting Infrastructure and Connectivity:
The Minister began his visit at Anand Vihar RRTS station, where NCRTC MD Shri Shalabh Goel gave a detailed briefing on the station’s design. Anand Vihar is a key multimodal hub, connecting metro lines, a railway station, and interstate bus terminals, easing transit for thousands of commuters.
Progress and Expansion of Namo Bharat:
Namo Bharat’s current operations cover 42 kilometres across nine stations, with further expansion planned. The corridor will soon extend to 54 kilometres, connecting more vital stations like Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar, significantly improving regional connectivity.
Groundbreaking Technologies and ‘Make in India’ Initiatives:
Namo Bharat is a pioneer in using advanced technologies under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. From day one, the system has supported the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), making travel easier across multiple transport modes.
