MMRDA awards FOB construction contract to RE Infra and Skill Infrabuild JV for Metro line-7

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has awarded a contract worth over Rs. 48 crore to the joint venture of RE Infra Pvt. Ltd. and Skill Infrabuild LLP for constructing Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) on Mumbai Metro Line 7. The project covers Poinsar East to Samta Nagar and Devipada connectivity.


Introduction:

In a significant advancement towards improving intermodal connectivity and commuter convenience, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has assigned a contract to a Joint Venture (JV) between RE Infra Pvt. Ltd. and Skill Infrabuild LLP for construction of Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Mumbai Metro Line 7. In Part A, from Poisar East to Samta Nagar and in Part B Devipada (East-West Connectivity) the FOB will be built.

This project aims to enhance connectivity using the elevated metro corridor between Andheri East and Dahisar East. It will provide convenient travel to all the daily commuters as it will focus on reducing the congestion in the area.

Contract Details:

  • Contract Value: Rs. 48,71,50,085
  • Contract Period: 18 months, including the monsoon season
  • Defect Liability Period: 60 months (inclusive of monsoon)
  • Scope of Work:

The contract involves the construction of two Foot Over Bridges along the Metro Line 7 corridor under Package 3–

  • Part A: Poinsar East FOB up to Samta Nagar
  • Part B: Devipada FOB for East-West Connectivity

The FOBs are designed in a way that the pedestrian can move without any problem in the busy metro routes, it is mainly focussed on minimising the congestion at the traffic zones.

About Mumbai Metro Line 7:

Mumbai Metro Line 7 is a 16.5-km elevated corridor between Andheri East and Dahisar East, with a total of 13 stations. It is vital for the seamless connection between north-south zones across Mumbai’s suburban regions.

Key highlights include:

  • Interconnectivity with Western Express Highway, Metro Line 1 (Versova–Ghatkopar), Metro Line 2A (Dahisar–DN Nagar), and Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar–Vikhroli)
  • Strategic interchange facilities at Andheri, JVLR, and Dahisar stations with suburban rail and metro systems
  • Improved connectivity to Central and Northern Mumbai, along with commercial and landmark zones such as CSMIA Airport, SEEPZ, and National Park
  • Minimise travel time by 50% to 75%, depending on road conditions

  • Safe pedestrian access to Metro stations
  • Seamless integration with bus and suburban rail systems
  • Reduced congestion at high-traffic metro station entry/exit points
  • Improved urban mobility in surrounding areas of Kandarpada, Poinsar, Devipada, and Samta Nagar
