Kolkata Metro Yellow Line: Trial run successfully conducted on 7.04 km Noapara–Jai Hind Biman Bandar stretch

Metro Railway successfully conducted the first full-fledged trial run on the Noapara-Jai Hind Biman Bandar stretch (7.04 km) of the Yellow Line. General Manager Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, along with senior officials and staff, witnessed the milestone, marking significant progress in enhancing Kolkata Metro’s connectivity and future operations.


Noapara will be the Connecting Point:

Noapara will be the connecting station of Blue Line and Yellow Line.  It is estimated that around 46,000 commuters will be using Jessore Road station daily by 2035. People residing at Nagerbazar, Kaikhali More and Airport Authority of India’s Quarter Complex areas will find it very convenient to go to any part of the city by using this station.

Looking Ahead:

  • Metro Railway is expanding to new destinations including Rajarhat, New Town, Airport, Barasat, and plans to connect Howrah and Sealdah.
  • By 2025, the network will cover 90 km and by 2027, it will reach 130 km.
  • Plans to connect the airport from New Garia and Noapara by December 2025 will allow the Metro to encircle Kolkata and Howrah.

The successful trial run on the Noapara-Jai Hind Biman Bandar stretch marks a significant step towards operational readiness of the Yellow Line. With robust efforts from Metro Railway, this development promises enhanced connectivity and convenience for Kolkata commuters, aligning with the city’s vision for modern and efficient public transportation.
