Kanpur Metro launches TBM ‘Vidyarthi’ for tunneling towards Kanpur Central

The Kanpur Metro project sees progress as ‘Vidyarthi’ TBM begins tunneling on the ‘down-line’ from Transport Nagar to Kanpur Central. Power arrangements have been finalized for seamless operations. Simultaneously, Agra Metro achieves a milestone with the completion of underground station construction and commencement of Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) installation.

Kanpur Metro Tunneling Progress:

Kanpur Metro continues its advancements with the launch of ‘Vidyarthi’ TBM from Transport Nagar station on the ‘down-line.’ The machine will construct a tunnel connecting Transport Nagar to Kanpur Central via Jhakarkati station. Meanwhile, ‘Azad’ TBM is actively constructing the parallel tunnel on the ‘up-line’ of the same stretch.

To ensure uninterrupted metro operations and infrastructure functionality, Kanpur Metro has set up three new auxiliary sub-stations and two auxiliary cum traction sub-stations. These will provide power for train operations from Motijheel to Kanpur Central and support electrical systems like lifts and escalators.

Agra Metro Achievements:

In a parallel development, Agra Metro has completed the civil construction of the remaining underground stations in its first corridor. Finishing works at four underground stations have been finalized, and the installation of the Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) is now underway, signaling progress toward operational readiness.

Conclusion:

With significant tunneling advancements in Kanpur Metro and the completion of civil works for Agra Metro’s underground stations, both projects demonstrate swift progress. These developments mark crucial steps toward enhancing urban connectivity and providing modern, efficient, and sustainable metro services in these key cities.
