The Kanpur Metro project achieves another milestone with the completion of platform roofs on all five stations of the 5 km Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section. Constructed using Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures, these roofs enhance aesthetics, sustainability, and cost-efficiency. Additionally, rail welding is completed, with track construction progressing rapidly.
Key Infrastructure Milestones:
- The Kanpur Metro continues to progress as critical infrastructure works near completion. The platform roofs of all five stations on the 5 km Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section have been successfully installed. These roofs, built using Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures, are not only visually appealing but also environmentally friendly and cost-efficient.
- Additionally, a major step forward has been achieved in track construction. The welding of rails along the entire stretch of the Baradevi-Naubasta section is now completed. Track slab casting is also underway alongside the laying of rails, ensuring smooth progress in construction.
- Meanwhile, significant advancements have also been made in the underground metro stations. Ticket vending machines (TVMs) have been installed at stations from Chunniganj to Kanpur Central, providing commuters with a seamless ticketing experience. Furthermore, Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates have been installed at these stations, marking another step toward operational readiness.
UPMRC Managing Director, Shri Sushil Kumar conducted a site review, closely monitoring the ongoing progress of construction. His visit underscores the commitment to timely execution and high-quality development of Kanpur Metro’s expansion.
Conclusion:
With the completion of platform roofs, rail welding, and ticketing infrastructure, Kanpur Metro is steadily advancing toward operational readiness. The integration of modern, sustainable construction methods reflects the city’s commitment to efficient and commuter-friendly urban transport. As progress continues, Kanpur is set to experience enhanced metro connectivity in the near future.
