G R Infraprojects Limited has emerged as the L-1 bidder for the Rs. 262.28 crore EPC contract for gauge conversion of 38.9 km between Kosamba and Umarpada in Vadodara Division of Western Railways. The project, set for completion in 24 months, includes track works, bridges, platforms, and the construction of 30 RUBs.
Project Scope & Details:
The project covers the gauge conversion of a 38.9 km track and associated civil works, including:
- Earthwork & Blanketing: Strengthening track foundation.
- Bridges: Construction of minor and major bridges for track connectivity.
- Service Buildings & Amenities: Development of platforms, station buildings, water supply, sanitation, and passenger facilities.
- Retaining/Boundary Walls & Side Drains: Infrastructure to ensure durability and drainage.
- Track Linking: Laying new tracks with all necessary materials except new rails.
Additionally, the project includes the construction of 30 Road Under Bridges (RUBs) across the Kosamba-Umarpada section, improving road connectivity and eliminating level crossings.
Technical Highlights:
- The permanent way will be a single line designed to support train speeds of up to 130 km/h.
- Bridges and formations will meet 25T axle load standards, ensuring structural robustness.
- Existing dismantled tracks will be replaced, with new structures built in both current and detoured alignments where necessary.
