DMRC progresses on Majlis Park–Jagatpur section, trial runs underway and tunnel milestones achieved

Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 is progressing rapidly with over 70% civil work completed across three corridors. Trial runs have started on the 4.6 km section between Majlis Park and Jagatpur Village. Simultaneously, three tunnel breakthroughs were achieved on the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor, highlighting DMRC’s engineering momentum in the capital.

Steady Progress in Phase 4 Works:

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is making commendable progress on its Phase 4 expansion. Over 70% of civil work has been completed across the three designated corridors.

Majlis Park – Jagatpur Village Trial Runs Underway:

  • A 4.6 km long stretch between Majlis Park and Jagatpur Village is nearing completion, with initial trial runs having begun in late December 2024.
  • This section includes three new stations – Burari, Jharoda Majra, and Jagatpur Village – and will be opened after statutory approvals and safety certifications are obtained.

Tunnel Breakthroughs Boosting Aerocity–Tughlakabad Corridor:

  • Chhatarpur Mandir – IGNOU: 1,475 m (Completed on 25.02.2025)
  • Kishangarh – Vasant Kunj: 1,550 m (Completed on 06.03.2025)
  • Chhatarpur Mandir – IGNOU: 1,460 m (Completed on 18.03.2025)

These breakthroughs underline the engineering scale and timeline efficiency being pursued under Phase 4.

Janakpuri West – Krishna Park Extension Operational:

The first operational stretch under Phase 4 – Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension – began passenger operations on 5th January 2025. On the same day, the foundation stone for the ambitious Rithala–Kundli Metro corridor was laid, marking further expansion of the metro footprint towards Haryana.

Total Scope of Phase 4:

In total, DMRC’s Phase 4 involves construction of approximately 112 km of new metro lines, significantly enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time across Delhi and its surrounding regions.

Conclusion:

DMRC’s Phase 4 expansion is shaping up to be one of its most impactful yet, with trial runs, tunnel breakthroughs, and new corridors all moving forward in tandem. With 112 km of new metro lines under development, Delhi’s urban mobility landscape is poised for a transformative leap in the coming years.
