In a landmark event, Assam witnessed the inauguration of three new train services and the dedication of a Rs. 72 crore Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Tetelia station yard. These initiatives, launched in the presence of key dignitaries, aim to enhance regional rail connectivity and ease travel across the state.
Introduction:
The Northeast Frontier Railway marked a significant milestone in Assam’s rail infrastructure with the flagging off of three new train services and the dedication of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Tetelia station yard. The event, held at Guwahati Railway Station, was graced by Hon’ble Governor of Assam Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Hon’ble Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, among other dignitaries.
New Train Services:
- Train No. 55818/55817 – Guwahati–New Bongaigaon–Guwahati Daily Passenger.
- Train No. 15911/15912 – Tinsukia–Naharlagun–Tinsukia Tri-weekly Express.
- Train No. 12047/12048 – Guwahati–North Lakhimpur–Guwahati Bi-weekly Jan Shatabdi Express.
These services aim to strengthen Assam’s regional rail connectivity and offer more convenient travel options for passengers.
Dedication of Road Over Bridge:
The new ROB (No. 59A) at Tetelia station yard, constructed by Northeast Frontier Railway at a cost of Rs. 72 crore, replaces the level crossing gate No. ST-22. This vital infrastructure is set to significantly enhance safety and reduce congestion for the public.
Dignitaries in Attendance:
The program saw participation from senior officials, including General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava and General Manager (Construction) Shri Arun Kumar Choudhary, alongside local MPs, MLAs, and other prominent figures.
