In a major development for the Agra Metro project, the tunnel construction is progressing swiftly with the use of four Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). TBMs 3 and 4 have completed tunnel construction from the ramp to RBS College Metro Station, while TBMs 1 and 2 are currently working on the tunnel from Agra College towards Mankameshwar.

The progress continues on the Agra Metro project as tunnel construction advances through four Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). Recently, TBMs 3 and 4 successfully concluded tunnel construction from the ramp to RBS College Metro Station, marking a crucial milestone. Concurrently, TBMs 1 and 2 are diligently progressing, constructing the tunnel from Agra College towards Mankameshwar. This advancement signifies substantial progress in the underground segment of the first corridor, reaffirming the project’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure in Agra.
Agra College Metro Station:
- It is an underground station (elevated in Corridor-2) proposed under Agra College grounds along the M.G. Road. It is an interchange station with Agra College station of Corridor-2. The major road connecting the station is M.G. Road.
- This important interchange station connects institutions like M.D. Jain Inter College apart from Agra College, St. John’s College in the north, commercial and residential areas of old Agra (near Ghatia Azam Khan chowk) in east, Bagh Muzaffar Khan in south and Gokalpura in west.
- This station is an interchange between Underground and Elevated Station of Corridor-1 and Corridor-2, respectively.
- To enable seamless transfer of passengers between one line and another, it is proposed to connect the paid area of the proposed underground station with the paid area of the elevated Agra College through a set of staircases and escalators to negotiate the height of 15.51M between the two concourses of elevated and underground stations.
Previous Tunnel Breakthrough at RBS College station:
- Recently, the Agra Metro project witnessed the first tunnel breakthrough at the RBS College metro station, marking a crucial phase in the construction of Corridor-1. It is an underground station proposed under RBS college ground along the Raja Balwant Singh road.
- Catchment area of the station comprises mainly of institutional area RBS College, Rawat P.G. Girls College and Pushp Vihar Colony in the west, Surya Nagar in the north, Lajpat Kunj & Bagh Farzana in the east and Professors colony in the south. Background:
The Agra Metro project under Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), comprises 2 corridors with a total length of 29.4 km and connects major tourist attractions like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikandra with railway stations and bus stands. The project will benefit the 26 lakh population of the city of Agra and will also cater to more than 60 lakh tourists who visit Agra every year.
- The length of Sikandra to Taj East Gate corridor is 14.00 km, which is partly elevated and partly underground comprises 13 Stations (6-Elevated and 7-Underground).
- The length of Agra Cantt. to Kalindi Vihar corridor is 15.40 km comprising 14 stations, all are elevated.
- It will provide an environment-friendly Mass Rapid Transit System to the historic city of Agra. The estimated cost of the project will be Rs 8,379.62 crores.
