NHSRCL has achieved a significant milestone with the casting of its first rail level slab at the Boisar Bullet Train Station. The station is a part of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor. With this development underway, now track-level work for the station can be started. The design of the station is based on the coastal area representing the culture, it will help in improving the regional connectivity.
Introduction:
The Boisar Station, part of the Bullet train corridor has accomplished a major construction feat with the first rail level slab casting completed. With this work completed, NHSRCL will now focus on track level structural work and things associated with it. The rapid pace of the project will lead it to timely completion without any problem.
Massive Concrete Work Completed:
The 37 meter long slab with approximately 40 meters width was built using 1070 cubic meters of concrete. The size of the slab highlights the NHSRCL’s capability of creating such huge structures, leading to development in high-speed rail infrastructure. A total of nine slabs will be required for constructing the foundation for the track-laying activities, first slab casting was completed and 8 more to go to start the track laying.
Station Design and Dimensions:
- The Boisar station will be 425 metres in length and comprise two key levels – the Concourse level and the Rail level.
- The total station area is approximately 17,000 square meters, with 6,000 square meters dedicated to the concourse.
- 8,000 metric tonnes of steel and 42,000 cubic meters of concrete will be required for the construction of the station, the large-scale nature of the project is the reason behind the use of the materials in bulk.
Architectural Inspiration:
The design of the station is inspired from the fishing nets which are traditionally used by fishermen in Konkan. The theme shows the rich culture and heritage of the region, showcasing coastal identity and blending architectural structure with high speed mobility corridor.
Enhanced Connectivity and Regional Impact:
Boisar Bullet Train Station will boost regional connectivity after it becomes operational. It will offer fast access to-
- Vadhvan Port (23 km away)
- Boisar & Tarapur Industrial Areas
- Tarapur Atomic Power Station
- Popular tourist destinations such as Chinchani, Nandgaon, Kelwa, Shirgaon, Dahanu & Bordi beaches, and waterfalls like Hiradpada and Kalamandevi.
Regional development, tourism, and commerce in the areas will be increased after the commuters get access to the above places.
Passenger Amenities and Modern Facilities:
The two-level station building will involve-
- Lounge and waiting rooms (both paid and unpaid zones)
- Smoking rooms, first aid rooms, toilets, and drinking water stations
- Shops and retail outlets at the concourse level
- Elevators and escalators for seamless level transition
The station is designed in a way so it can provide safety and modern experience to the passengers.
Conclusion:
With the first slab cast at Boisar Bullet Train Station, India is advancing towards getting the first bullet train corridor operational. The development in the infrastructure will reinforce NHSRCL’s position among the transport industries in the country. It will enhance regional growth, modern design, and improve connectivity, expected to change Boisar into a crucial high-speed rail hub.
