Rishikesh: Work on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line (125 km) begun on Tuesday after all clearances were completed for construction of the 6km rail stretch from Veer Bhadra railway station, under first phase of the mega project.
Work for construction of the 6km long stretch, including a railway bridge over Chandrabhaga river, has been awarded after calling tender bids.
The project is estimated to cost worth Rs 16,216 crore.
A total of 16 bridges will be constructed on the Rishikesh-Karnprayag route.
