Vishnu Prakash R Punglia Limited, in a joint venture with SBEL, has secured a Rs. 269.69 crore contract for civil, track, and electrical works on the Mandpiya-Chanderiya section of the Ajmer-Chanderiya rail doubling project. The 178.28 km project, approved in 2024, aims to enhance capacity and efficiency in North Western Railway’s Ajmer division.
The Scope of Work Includes:
- Formation Works: Earthwork for embankment, cutting, and blanketing.
- Bridge Construction: Important, major, and minor bridges, including Road Under Bridges (RUBs), Limited Height Subways (LHS), Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), trolley refuges, toe walls, and retaining walls.
- Building Construction: Station buildings, service buildings, platform shelters, and staff quarters related to Civil and Traction Distribution.
- Permanent Way Works: Supplying ballast, transporting P-Way material, and laying and linking of Broad Gauge tracks.
- Electrical (General) Works: Miscellaneous electrical installations required for the project.
Project Significance:
The Ajmer-Chanderiya doubling project was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in February 2024. Covering a length of 178.28 km, the project has a total estimated cost of Rs. 1813.28 crore. It aims to improve rail capacity, reduce congestion, and enhance operational efficiency in the region.
