Warangal: Telangana government on Saturday released Rs 40 crore for procurement of land for the ‘periodical wagon overhauling workshop’ at Kazipet and payment of compensation to occupants of the land. The State has been urging the Centre for setting up a periodical wagon overhauling workshop at Kazipet.
- While the Railways asked the State government to provide nearly 150 acres of land for setting up the workshop, the State agreed to allot the same free of cost.
- As part of this, the State government had identified 158.18 acres of Endowments land (Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple) near Madikonda on the outskirts of Warangal city, and the Endowments Department had agreed to part with the land.
- Following this, the State government issued orders transferring the land to the Roads and Buildings Department in March this year.
- The construction of the project is to be completed by March 2019.
