Synchronised pit jack system revolutionises Vande Bharat maintenance at Shakurbasti Depot

A state-of-the-art synchronised pit jack system has been introduced by Northern Railway at Shakurbasti Train Set Depot, enabling the simultaneous and safe lifting of all eight coaches of the Vande Bharat Express. This system ensures uniform elevation, increased safety, and faster maintenance cycles, streamlining repairs and inspections for India’s premier semi high-speed train.

How It Works:

The system includes multiple jacks positioned in a pit beneath the train, connected to a central control unit. This setup allows synchronised lifting across all coaches, preventing uneven stress and ensuring safety during maintenance.

Maintenance Capabilities:

The system supports a range of critical tasks such as wheel replacements, bogie replacements, undercarriage checks, and repair of essential components. Its capability to lift all coaches simultaneously cuts down on maintenance time and enhances service efficiency.

Safety and Precision:

With high safety standards, the synchronised system minimises risks compared to traditional methods. The jacks maintain equal lifting force, ensuring smooth, efficient, and reliable train elevation, reducing wear on train infrastructure.

Key Benefits:

  • Uniform Lifting
  • Increased Safety
  • Efficient Maintenance
  • Enhanced Precision
  • Reduced Wear and Tear
  • Versatility in Maintenance
  • Optimised Operations

Conclusion:

The synchronised pit jack system at Shakurbasti Depot marks a significant upgrade in the maintenance capabilities of Vande Bharat Express trains, promising faster service cycles, enhanced safety, and sustained performance for India’s high-speed rail fleet.
