Visakhapatnam: The Central and state governments have cleared the worth Rs 8,000 crore Light Metro Rail project in Visakhapatnam. As per the agreement, the AMRC (Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation) will bear 50% cost of the project and will be executed under public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
The execution responsibilities of the project will be entrusted to Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA).
A DPR (Detailed Project Report) will be soon made and sent for approval to the government.
The Phase-I of the project will cover a distance of 42.54 km from Gajuwaka to Kommadi, under the limits of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).
