RITES secures Rs. 28 crore survey contract from South Central Railway for elevated rail corridors

RITES Limited has been awarded a contract worth Rs. 27.96 crore by South Central Railway for conducting the Final Location Survey of high-speed elevated rail corridors between Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai. The survey, using advanced LIDAR technology, includes DPR preparation, alignment design, traffic analysis, and EPC documentation over an 8-month period.

The contract involves comprehensive activities such as:

  • Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR): Assessing feasibility, technical requirements, and economic viability.
  • Final Alignment Design: Determining the optimal route for the corridors.
  • Traffic Survey & ROR Calculations: Analyzing passenger demand, revenue potential, and return on investment.
  • Detailed Estimate & EPC Documentation: Compiling cost projections and contract documents for engineering, procurement, and construction.

Use of Advanced Technology:

To ensure accuracy and efficiency, RITES will employ modern surveying techniques such as Airborne and Terrestrial LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). These technologies provide high-resolution topographical mapping, crucial for optimizing alignment and planning infrastructure.

Significance of the Project:

The survey marks a major step toward enhancing high-speed rail connectivity in South India. The Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai corridors will contribute to reduced travel time, improved regional mobility, and economic growth. This initiative aligns with India’s long-term vision of expanding its high-speed rail network.

Conclusion:

This contract strengthens RITES’ position as a key player in India’s railway infrastructure development. By leveraging modern survey technologies, the company will provide critical insights for the future construction of high-speed rail corridors, ensuring efficient planning and execution. The project is expected to play a transformative role in South India’s transportation landscape.
