Gurgaon: Rapid Metro Gurgaon has installed solar panels at the depot near Sector 54 Chowk Rapid Metro Station. It will help the Rapid Metro meet around 6.5% of its total electricity needs. Rapid Metro Gurgaon, in partnership with Amplus Energy Solutions, has installed solar panels for 25 years.
- A press statement issued by Rapid Metro claimed that the capacity of the solar plant is 403.155 kWp, that will produce pollution-free solar energy of 11,839,856 units over system’s lifetime.
- Through this partnership, Rapid Metro plans to reduce its CO2 emissions by 11,390 MT, which will be equivalent to planting 2,95,183 trees in India.
- Rajiv Banga, MD, Rapid Metro Gurgaon, said,“This partnership is part of our long-term strategy to use renewable sources to power the metro system and we are very proud that a portion of our energy will be derived from the Sun.”
- Sanjeev Aggarwal, MD & CEO, Amplus Energy, said,“This partnership will provide the right impetus for metro projects in other cities to use solar power not just to lower their carbon emissions but also as an economical power source.”
