Mumbai: 7 railway stations in Mumbai will soon get major redevelopment. In its effort to redevelop 17 railways stations across the country, the IRSDC (Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Ltd) will be revamping 3 suburban railway stations in the city. Those currently included in the list are Mumbai Central & Bandra stations, while the 3rd station is yet to be identified.
“We will also undertake the improvement of other railway stations, apart from Mulund, Virar, Chembur and GTB Nagar. Discussions are going on to determine which railway station will be redeveloped by the MRVC and the IRSDC,” R S Khurana, acting chairman & managing director, Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), said.
A budget of Rs 900 crore has been approved by the ministry of railways for the overall development of stations in India.
However, funds to be alloted for the redevelopment of stations in Mumbai is yet to be specified.
