Thiruvananthapuram: App-based online taxi facility will introduce at Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station from Tuesday. Railways has awarded the contract to Uber for 3 months. The contract is provided under the non-fare revenue policy of railways, which includes leasing out space. If the railways find the model successful, more parking lots will be allotted to ride-hailing service providers in the next contract.
An assistance kiosk for app-based online taxi services will be set up at the second entry of Thiruvananthapuram Central railway Station, near the Power House Road.
Initially, it was proposed to provide the space for the kiosk & for parking of online taxis in the front side of the railway station, near to the prepaid auto stand.
Already, App-based cab services are operational at Ernakulam North & Aluva railway stations.
In addition to Thiruvananthapuram Central, the facility will be soon introduced at Thrissur & Ernakulam South stations.
