Thiruvananthapuram: App-based online taxi facility will introduce at Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station from Tuesday. Railways has awarded the contract to Uber for 3 months. The contract is provided under the non-fare revenue policy of railways, which includes leasing out space. If the railways find the model successful, more parking lots will be allotted to ride-hailing service providers in the next contract.
- An assistance kiosk for app-based online taxi services will be set up at the second entry of Thiruvananthapuram Central railway Station, near the Power House Road.
- Initially, it was proposed to provide the space for the kiosk & for parking of online taxis in the front side of the railway station, near to the prepaid auto stand.
- Already, App-based cab services are operational at Ernakulam North & Aluva railway stations.
- In addition to Thiruvananthapuram Central, the facility will be soon introduced at Thrissur & Ernakulam South stations.
