HYDERABAD: To enhance safety & security measures at major railway stations around the city, the authorities decided to install 130 CCTV cameras at the Secunderabad railway station and 59 at the Nampally station, on Monday.
Another 29 cameras will be installed at the Kacheguda railway station.
Authorities have also decided to set up baggage scanners near the entrances & enforce various rules such as lane discipline inside the railway station & removal of vehicles found parked for a long period of time.
These measures were taken during first safety review meeting of a special committee formed for the purpose & plugging existing security loopholes.
The special committee includes officials from railways, traffic police, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Road Transport Corporation (RTC) & Hyderabad Metro rail limited (HMRL) was formed by DG, Road & Railway safety, T Krishna Prasad.
