Kolkata: Pakur-Malda section of Eastern Railway (ER) is now completely electrified with 25 KV AC traction. CRS’s (Commissioner of Railway Safety) sanction for train running at 75 KMPH in this section has been received.
With the inception of this electrified portion, now continuous electric traction is available for the entire route upto Malda from Howrah/Sealdah.
Introduction of electric traction upto Malda is a historic event for the ER’s Malda Division as electric traction is being introduced in this Division for the first time.
Goods services with electric traction in this section will commence within a week and gradually passenger train services with electric engine will be introduced.
