NCRTC Signs MoU with GMDA for Use of Geographic Information System (GIS) in Country’s First RRTS Project

The NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation), recently, signed MoU with GMDA for use of Geographic Information System (GIS) in the implementation of country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System. Both organizations agreed to share their respective resources, data, and expertise during planning as well as the execution of the project in an efficient manner.

More Information:

  • The ambitious rapid rail project will connect Delhi to Meerut in the first corridor.
  • The works related to the first corridor has already begun.
  • Also, the tender process for various works is on a fast track.
  • NCRTC is a Joint Venture of Government of India and State Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi, is mandated to design, construct, operate and maintain rail based RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) in the National Capital Region.
  • RRTS is a rail based high-speed transit system with a design speed of 180 kmph and an average speed of 100 kmph.
  • Once operational, it will be the fastest, most comfortable and safest mode of commuter transport in NCR.
  • A total of 8 corridors have been identified for creating high speed RRTS links in the Delhi-NCR, of which 3 corridors – Delhi to Meerut, Delhi to Alwar and Delhi to Panipat – are being taken up for development in the 1st phase.
  • The Delhi to Meerut corridor will be expected to be operational by 2023.
