Mumbai: The Chembur-Wadala corridor of Mumbai Monorail will begin operations soon, according to a report. “We will soon begin conducting trial runs as the systems have not been used for many months,” Sanjay Khandare, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority), was quoted as saying in the report.
While Khandare did not commit to a date for resumption of services on Phase II, sources revealed that the operations were likely to start after August 15, Indian Express reported.
An official said,“We have enough rakes to conduct operations on Phase I. The operations are likely to start after August 15 and the next phase will start in another 6 months.”
The Monorail services of Phase-I will resume with revised fares.
In January, the MMRDA had approved the revised fares.
