Mumbai: The Executive Committee of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), headed by Mr. D. K. Jain, Chairman, Executive Committee, MMRDA and Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra, on Wednesday, accepted the tender to appoint contractors to design, construct, manufacture, supply, install and commission the ballastless tracks for the Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East) Metro-7 corridor.
This is considered a very crucial and speedy step towards completing the Metro-7 corridor as the contractors are being appointed within only 7 months of inviting tenders for the assignment.
The Committee also appointed contractors to design and construct 2.5-km elevated road from Airoli Bridge to Thane-Belapur Road.
This project will help improve connectivity between Thane and Navi Mumbai and further. On Wednesday’s Executive Committee’s meeting was a special one for Mr. D. K. Jain, being the Chief Secretary to Government of Maharashtra attended the Executive Committee meeting as Chairman for the first time.
He was welcomed by Mr. R. A. Rajeev, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA. Mr. Rajeev also welcomed the other new Executive Committee Members Mr. Jayant Banthia, former Chief Secretary; Mr. Lokesh Chandra, MD, CIDCO and Mr. UPS Madan, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance).
