Mumbai Metro 3 Update: MMRC Completes 1,267 Meters of Tunnelling for Metro 3 Project

Mumbai: MMRC (Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation), which is implementing the Colaba-Seepz Metro 3 project, said its TBMs (Tunnel Boring Machines) have so far completed 1,267 meters of tunnelling at various station sites. MMRC said in a statement, so far, 11 TBMs have been received, out of which 8 have been lowered and have started operations.

The TBMs have started operations in 4 locations including-

  • Azad Maidan
  • Naya Nagar (Mahim)
  • Vidyanagari (Santacruz)
  • Marol Naka

Ashwini Bhide, managing director, MMRC (Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation), said,“After launching our first TBM in November last year, it is indeed a milestone to have successfully completed more than 1,200 meters of tunnelling with 8 machines put to operations. With 14 TBMs already having completed Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), we are hoping to have all the 17 TBMs running swiftly in ground by July 2018.”
