Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC), which is implementing the Mumbai Metro Line–3 project, initiates tunneling at package-3 from Science museum to Acharya Atre chowk to Worli. Ms Ashwini Bhide Managing Director MMRC speaking on the occassion said,”we are happy to commission the 11th TBM in this project”.

More Information:

  • TBM Tanasa- 1 manufactured by The Robbins Company is 89 meter long machine with a 6.65 meter cutter diameter.
  • The TBM will bore a 2.2.Km long tunnel connecting Science museum station to Worli station and then again from science museum to Mumbai Central.
  • Out of 17 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), 16 have already arrived in Mumbai out of which 14 are lowered and 11 are commissioned currently.
