A 70-meter-long steel bridge was successfully launched over DFCCIL tracks near Vadodara for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. The bridge was fabricated in Durgapur and assembled on-site using advanced jacking techniques, it marks the seventh steel bridge completed in Gujarat, significantly contributing to India’s steel industry and infrastructure development.
Location & Project Context:
The bridge was launched on 8th April 2025 near Vadodara, Gujarat, as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor. It is the seventh steel bridge out of 28 steel bridges planned to be completed in the corridor. More than 10,000 metric tons of steel were used for the seven bridges.
Technical Details:
- Bridge dimensions: 70 m length, 13 m height, 14 m width
- Fabricated in Durgapur, Kolkata and transported via trailers.
- 674 MT bridge launched using a 49-meter-long, 204 MT launching nose.
Engineering Features:
- Used 28,800 TTHS bolts, C5 paint system, elastomeric bearings.
- Designed lifespan: 100 years.
- Assembled at a height of 18 m using 250-ton capacity semi-automatic jacks.
Launch Execution:
- Completed in 12 hours.
- Conducted during intermittent traffic blocks on DFCCIL tracks.
- Precision ensured through phased execution to minimize disruption to freight operations.

Update on Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor:
Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta, Managing Director of NHSRCL, conducted a site inspection of the Mumbai Bullet Train station along with senior officials. The visit aimed to review the ongoing construction progress, assess site readiness, and ensure alignment with project timelines for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor.
