Nagpur: A MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) will be signed between Indian Railways, Maharashtra government and MahaMetro, on July 16, for starting high-speed local trains between Nagpur and 4 nearby towns namely, Bhandara, Wardha, Katol and Ramtek. The MoU will be signed for planning and execution of the project, ToI reported.
The aim of this project is to run 3-coach EMUs (Electric Multiple Units) to these towns with 4 on each route.
The plan is to run EMUs at a speed of 120 kmph, Under this project.
For the services, the MahaMetro will use existing tracks, signalling, platform and others of Indian Railways.
Under this project, high-speed fully air-conditioned coaches will run.
However, other formalities such as number of trips, timings, special stations, revenue sharing pattern etc will be decided after the MoU.
