Mumbai: Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC) awarded Contract for “Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System” for its Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ corridor of Mumbai Metro Line-3 (MML-3) Project after obtaining clearance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as per procurement norms.
“Consortium of M/s. ASIS Elektronik ve Billisim Sistemleri A.S., Turkey and Kalindee Rail Nirman – A Division of Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited, India” (Kalindee-ASIS JV), has been awarded the contract, being the most competitive amongst the respective prequalified Bidders. The work consists of Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of “Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System” for the 27 stations of “Mumbai Metro Line-3”.
Commenting on the same, Managing Director MMRC, Ms. Ashwini Bhide said, “AFC System works” are critical components for Metro Operations to cater to heavy ridership requirements while ensuring Passenger comforts on metro rail system. We aim to implement works of provision of advanced Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system to ensure that Mumbai Metro Line-3 project is commissioned within stipulated timelines.
The proposed AFC system of MML-3 will support “Common Mobility Card”, being implemented by MMRDA as an Integrated Ticketing System (ITS) solution to provide seamless travel to Commuters of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR)
