Mumbai: The MMRC (Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation) is looking to appoint a consultant for integrating the Metro-3 line (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) stations to the existing public modes of transport – suburban railway & bus stations.
Also, the MMRC is looking at coordinating with different government agencies to make use of existing facilities such as parking lots or to develop new amenities, such as bicycle stands & improved pedestrian movement near upcoming Metro stations.
The planning authority will also look at engaging architecture students, academia & institutes working towards improving connectivity in the city for this exercise, Ashwini Bhide, MD, MMRC, said.
Bhide said,“The idea is to study the area to understand how the existing amenities can be used at best to improve commuter experience and make last-mile connectivity completely seamless.”
Already, state CM Devendra Fadnavis has directed the authority to redesign station exits to include direct access points to the Mumbai Central station & Mumbai International airport, once the work is completed by December 2021.
