Mumbai: The MMRC (Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation) is looking to appoint a consultant for integrating the Metro-3 line (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) stations to the existing public modes of transport – suburban railway & bus stations.
- Also, the MMRC is looking at coordinating with different government agencies to make use of existing facilities such as parking lots or to develop new amenities, such as bicycle stands & improved pedestrian movement near upcoming Metro stations.
- The planning authority will also look at engaging architecture students, academia & institutes working towards improving connectivity in the city for this exercise, Ashwini Bhide, MD, MMRC, said.
- Bhide said,“The idea is to study the area to understand how the existing amenities can be used at best to improve commuter experience and make last-mile connectivity completely seamless.”
- Already, state CM Devendra Fadnavis has directed the authority to redesign station exits to include direct access points to the Mumbai Central station & Mumbai International airport, once the work is completed by December 2021.
