Nagercoil: Union Minister Rajen Gohain, on Tuesday, laid the foundation stone for railway projects worth Rs 3618 crore on Kanyakumari-Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram section at a function. The Minister of state for Railways also launched various facilities at the Nagercoil Junction railway station.

A Southern Railway press release said, Gohain laid the foundation stone for the doubling and electrification projects covering 349 km in this sector.
Gohain also inaugurated an escalator, Wi-Fi services and 100% LED lighting at Nagercoil Junction.
The release quoted Gohain as saying Indian Railways was making “continued efforts” to enhance facilities for passengers and that more customer-oriented amenities were being implemented.
The outlay for Tamil Nadu this fiscal was Rs 2,287 crore, Gohain said.
