Maha Metro MD reviews progress on Reach-4A of the Nagpur Metro Phase-2 project

MAHA-METRO MD Shri Shravan Hardikar inspected the state-of-the-art Casting Yard for Nagpur Metro Phase-II. The 18-acre facility will produce 1,899 pre-cast segments for the viaduct construction in Reach-4A, a 5.6 km stretch with 3 elevated stations slated for completion by December 2026.

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO) Managing Director Shri Shravan Hardikar recently conducted a detailed review of the ongoing Reach-4A project under Nagpur Metro Phase-II. The review included an inspection of the advanced 18-acre Casting Yard, a critical facility for the project’s viaduct construction.

The Casting Yard for Nagpur Metro Phase-II is a cutting-edge facility equipped to produce 1,899 pre-cast segments using:

  • 4 long-line beds
  • 4 short-line beds
  • A reinforcement cutting and bending yard
  • An RMC plant
  • A testing laboratory
  • Other essential infrastructure for efficient viaduct construction

Background of Nagpur Metro Phase-II:

  • Nagpur Metro Phase-II expands on the success of Phase-I, covering 43.8 km with the following extensions:
    • Khapri – MIDC ESR: 18.5 km
    • Automotive Square – Kanhan River: 13 km
    • Prajapati Nagar – Transport Nagar: 5.6 km
    • Lokmanya Nagar – Hingna: 6.7 km
  • The project is set to be executed in six stages, with Reach-4A being a pivotal segment.

Details of Reach-4A:

  • Reach-4A constitutes Stage-3 of Nagpur Metro Phase-II and involves:
    • A 5.6 km viaduct
    • 3 elevated stations
  • This segment is scheduled for completion by December 2026, contributing significantly to Nagpur’s urban mobility goals.
