Kolkata: Ajay Vijayvargiya, General Manager, Metro Railway along with senior officers of Metro Railway and RVNL inspected the construction site of Dakshineswar –Noapara Metro project and reviewed the progress of works. Commercial services till Dakshineswar will commence by May 2019
- Indrani Banerjee, CPRO, Metro Railway Kolkata,said,”The station buildings at Dakshineswar and Baranagar will be completed by next May and September respectively. Solar panels will then be fitted on the roofs to turn these into green stations. Commercial space will also be created around Dakshineswar station to earn additional revenue. The general manager instructed officials to ensure that deadlines are met.”
- A senior Metro official said,”Finally, the encroachers under Kamarhati Municipality agreed to move to an alternate location selected by the state. The first lot of 50 encroachers have already shifted and we have been assured that the others will leave by the end of December. If we succeed in commencing construction immediately thereafter, the project should be complete by May 2019.”
- The metro link up to Dakshineswar will reduce pressure on the suburban railway & road network passing along BT Road.
