Kernex Microsystems India Ltd. has been awarded a Rs. 4.35 crore contract by Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the Train Collision Avoidance System (KAVACH). The project is scheduled for completion on or before August 30, 2025.
What is KAVACH:
- KAVACH is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system by Indian Railways.
- It is a highly technology intensive system, which requires safety certification of the highest order.
- This was adopted as a National ATP system by the Ministry of Railways in July 2020.
- Implementation of KAVACH on the Indian Railways network is one of the priority areas of Indian Railways.
Kavach-Salient Features:
- Automatic application brakes if the loco pilot fails to do so.
- Displays line-side signal in drivers cab.
- Radio based continuous update of Movement authority.
- Auto whistling at LC gates.
- Collision avoidance by direct loco to loco communication.
- SOS in case of any mishap.

With this order, Kernex Microsystems continues to strengthen its presence in India’s rail safety technology sector, contributing to the advancement of the KAVACH system aimed at enhancing safety across the Indian Railways network.
