KERNEX-KEC consortium secures Rs. 85.14 crore Kavach contract from North Central Railway

KERNEX-KEC Consortium has secured a major contract worth Rs. 85.14 crore from the North Central Railway. The contract consists of implementing the Kavach (Train Collision Avoidance System), telecom towers, and 4X48 optical fibre cable backbone in the Bhuteshwar–Dholpur section. The project is to be executed within 500 days. 


Introduction:

North Central Railway (NCR) has officially awarded a key infrastructure contract to the KERNEX-KEC Consortium for the deployment of Kavach, India’s indigenous Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS). Kernex leads the consortium.

Scope of Work:

  • Provision of Kavach System on the Bhuteshwar (Incl.) – Dholpur (Incl.) section.
  • Erection of telecom towers.
  • Laying of 4X48  Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) backbone for robust connectivity.

This strategic deployment aims to enhance railway safety and support real-time train control through reliable communication networks.

Consortium & Leadership:

KERNEX Microsystems is the lead member in the consortium, bringing its expertise in TCAS technology. KEC International will support execution, leveraging its infrastructure capabilities.

Project Timeline & Value:

  • Contract Value: Rs. 85.14 Crores
  • Timeline: To be completed within 500 days from the issuance of the Letter of Acceptance (LOA)
