K-RIDE awards Rs. 580 crore contract to NCC Limited for construction of nine BSRP stations on Corridor-4B

Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) has awarded NCC Limited a contract worth Rs. 580.75 crore for the design and construction of nine stations along Corridor-4B of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP). The contract consists of civil, architectural, structural, and E&M works, and is expected to be completed within 730 days.


Introduction:

NCC Limited has received a major contract from Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE). The order comes under the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), includes design and construction of 9 major stations at the Corridor-4B. The 580.74 crore contract is expected to be completed within 730 days from the date of commencement. 

Scope of Work in Detail:

The contract covers the following nine stations-

  • Channasandra
  • Horamavu
  • Hennur
  • Jakkur
  • Yelahanka
  • Rajankunte
  • Thanisandra
  • Muddanahalli
  • R. K. Hegdenagar

Eight stations out of nine will be at-grade, and one station will be elevated.

The scope includes-

  • Civil and structural works
  • Architectural finishing work
  • Entry/Exit structures
  • Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) works and Roof structures
  • Construction of Steel Foot Over Bridges (FOBs)
  • Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) works
  • Detailed Design and Engineering (DDC)
  • Integration of station elements with the overall corridor network

Significance of the Contract:

The awarded contract will play a crucial role in enhancing the infrastructural development at corridor-4B of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project. The developments will help in reducing congestion and improve connection to Bangalore’s northern and eastern suburbs.

Project Context:

The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) is a significant initiative to reinforce urban mobility solutions in the city. With four corridors spanning 148 km, the BSRP aims to link key residential, commercial, and industrial areas across Bangalore. It is jointly funded by the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka.

Corridor-4 comes between Heelalige and Rajankunte, and the section under Package C4B falls on the northern part of this corridor.

Conclusion:

NCC Ltd. has been awarded the Package C4B, it will accelerate the infrastructure development and connectivity in Bangalore. The 9 stations which are to be designed and constructed will play an important role in connecting the areas in corridor-4B. This project will contribute to boost commuter mobility, economic growth, and infrastructure development in Bangalore’s expanding metropolitan region.
