Gurugram: Soon, the HUDA City Centre metro station will be connected to the Gurugram railway station through the Metro Rail .
The government is considering 2 alternate routes for the link and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) may be prepared soon. On Wednesday, in a meeting held in Chandigarh, and attended by senior Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and the Department of Town & Country Planning officials, it was decided that a proposal would be made to the State government.
- A source in the Haryana government said,“A feasibility study was done 6 months ago to explore the possibility of connecting the HUDA City Centre metro station to Dwarka via the Gurugram railway station and the project was found to be both technically and financially viable.”
- The source added,“Later, another study was commissioned to explore whether metro connectivity between the HUDA City Centre metro station and the Gurugram railway station alone was feasible. It too was found to be feasible. So, in the first phase, the metro will be extended from HUDA City Centre to the railway station. It may then be connected to Dwarka in the next phase.”
- People of Old Gurugram have written to CM Manohar Lal Khattar several times suggesting that HUDA City Centre should be connected to Gurugram railway Station via Subhash Chowk, Sector (34,35,36), Hero Honda Chowk, Sector 10A, Sector 9A, Sector 4, Sector 5 and Sector 23.
- The DPR (Detailed Project Report) will be prepared after the route is finalised by the government, the source said.
