Kolkata: Eastern Railway (ER) succeeded in achieving originating freight loading of 5.710 metric tonne during Feb 2018, as against 5.094 metric tonne loaded during the corresponding month of the last year. It registered an improvement of 12.09% over the corresponding month of the last year and 2.33% against the Board’s target which was 5.580 metric tonne.
The net tonne per km was also 11.29% higher than the corresponding month of the last year.
The net tonne per km is a unit, which denotes freight traffic carried in one kilometer.
Moreover, the total originating earning was 7.82% higher than February 2017 and 3.37% higher than the target set by the Railway Board.
With this remarkable performance in freight loading, Eastern Railway has also made a mark in Freight Loading in addition to its passenger carrying record as well.
