Chennai: Mobile transmitters to install at stations in 2 months. It may take about 2 months to install telecom transmitters at seven stations on the 7.6 kilometer stretch from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park, according to officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). An official said,“We have already given a contract for this project and the work will begin soon. We want to install transmitters in stations and see how it works; if needed, we will take further steps to enhance connectivity. We are still working out how many transmitters each station will have.”

More Details:

  1.  The stretch is built about 18-20 metres below the ground.
  2.  They will install the equipment in all underground stations after they get ready, officials said.
  3.  Of the total 45 kilometer of phase-I project of Chennai Metro Rail, 21 kilometer are elevated & the remaining 24 kilometer underground.
