Chairman Railway Board Vinod Kumar Yadav Inspects Tirupati Railway Station

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman Railway Board made his maiden visit to Tirupati Railway Station on 17th January, 2019. He was accompanied by Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division and other Railway Officials.

The Chairman Railway Board (CRB) made an extensive inspection of Tirupati Railway Station and took a firsthand account of the developmental works in progress at this major pilgrim rail hub on Indian Railways. He reviewed the plans concerning upgradation of passenger facilities and amenities at the station and inspected the works for the Premium Executive Air-Conditioned Lounge nearing completion on platform no. 1 at Tirupati Railway Station.

Addressing the Media, he stated that this executive lounge would be matching the best world class 5-star standards. He also had a word of praise for the people of Tirupati whose co-operation in maintaining cleanliness at the railway station, has ensured that the station is accorded the second rank amongst all major stations on Indian Railways for best cleanliness, by an independent third party audit conducted by Quality Council of India. Two more platforms will be coming up at Tirupati Railway Station.

Tiruchannur Railway Station is also being developed as a major rail hub to cater to Tirupati area, he informed. Construction work for Road under Bridge at Rayalacheruvu Level Crossing in Tirupati city is going to be taken up soon, with both the Railways and the State Government processing the execution works.

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that the ambitious station re-development plan for a world class ultra-modern Tirupati Railway Station, is set to take off at a cost of around Rs. 500 crore. To enable execute this project, the maintenance pit lines at Tirupati Railway Station are being shifted to Tirupati West, at a cost of around Rs. 100 crore. Within 2 years, Tirupati Railway Station is going to undergo a huge change to the latest standards so as to meet the expectations of the rail users, he added.
Speaking on the digital initiatives being undertaken by Indian Railways, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav informed that WiFi facility will be provided at 6100 Railway Stations on the rail network.
