Product Expertise: Safe, comfortable and sustainable- innovations for rail transport by HÜBNER

To make the transition to sustainable mobility a success, it is essential to have high-performance and attractive public transport. As a leading supplier for the mobility industry and an ongoing commitment to innovation, the HÜBNER Group continues to develop customised, high-performance solutions that make the operation of rail vehicles more efficient, comfortable and sustainable. At InnoTrans 2024, the HÜBNER Group will present a range of product novelties that promote innovative and attractive public transport. Managing Director Kai Mentel gives a first insight into the highlights HÜBNER will showcase: “Our trade fair concept perfectly reflects what the HÜBNER Group stands for now and in the future: we combine innovative performance with a comprehensive sustainability approach, thus driving forward future-proof rail mobility.”

More reliability and comfort in operation

One innovation currently in development is the HÜBNER AutoCouple System, designed to enable fully automatic coupling und uncoupling of gangway systems in the future. Intended for use in passenger trains the system can be integrated or even retrofitted into vehicles of most types. The HÜBNER AutoCouple system will open up previously untapped potential for greater efficiency during operation, while at the same time significantly reducing the time and personnel costs involved in the coupling process.

Holography transforms passenger information

In cooperation with ZEISS Microoptics, HÜBNER is developing a holographic display technology for window systems in trains and buses. This technology allows for data like arrival and departure times to be projected directly onto the windowpanes of vehicles. This ensures greater passenger comfort and at the same time brings further advantages for operators, as Ingolf Cedra, Managing Director of the HÜBNER Group, explains: “Holography offers clear advantages over conventional technologies such as OLED systems. They are more cost-effective, require less energy and space in the vehicle as no complex output media technology is required – all with high image resolution.”

Sustainability through energy efficiency

The HÜBNER Group is pursuing a holistic approach to sustainability, from production to environmentally friendly end-of-life services. With a growing portfolio of products and services for energy-efficient operations, the company is actively promoting sustainable mobility. For example, the innovative spring-by-wire chassis technology by HEMSCHEIDT Engineering will replace compressed air-based chass is technology.

Compressed air is a real energy guzzler when it comes to the suspension and damping of rail vehicles. This new hydropneumatic technology uses oil as a carrier fluid and eliminates the need for heavy components like compressors, improving energy efficiency. The HÜBNER Group is present worldwide at around 30 locations in 17 countries, offering its customers tailored products and services. Local production and the global network enable short delivery routes and contribute to an improved climate balance.

HÜBNER Group at InnoTrans 2024

At InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin, the HÜBNER Group will be presenting pioneering, high-quality systems and components for greater performance and comfort in rail vehicles. This year the focus in Hall 1.2, Booth 120 will be on impulses for more sustainability and energy efficiency in trains.
