Kanpur Metro has successfully completed the breakthrough of both the tunnels from Rawatpur Station towards Company Bagh Chauraha under Corridor-2. The completion of a 620-meter downline tunnel was achieved using TBM ‘Saraswati’; it further accelerated the construction work in the corridor. UPMRC is now getting close to modernizing the infrastructure and boosting the connectivity in the city.
Introduction:
Representing a major stride towards infrastructure development in Kanpur, the tunnel break trough of twin tunnels from Rawatpur Station to Company Bagh Chauraha under Corridor-2 (CSA to Barra 8) has been accomplished by UPMRC. For the construction work, a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) named ‘Saraswati’ was used; it linked Rawatpur to the Corridor-2 depot ramp by completing the 620-meter downline tunnel.
Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has continuously put effort in infrastructure construction even completing the work before the planned completion. Now with the tunnel work completed in Rawatpur they will focus on other works like utility installation, lining, track laying and system deployment.
